Ikondo Secondary School is located in the Muleba district of Tanzania, in a remote area approximately 20km from Muleba town. The school has a total of 610 students, both boys and girls, with some students coming from far villages and staying on campus at their purpose-built hostel. Being able to stay in school has many benefits to rural children – it saves them from walking up to four hours a day to and from school through remote areas, sometimes at great personal risk; and it frees them from the domestic labour of collecting water and firewood for cooking once they get home. Prior to the involvement of My Little Zen, the school did not have an active internet connection. For some students, using an iPad for a live video call was a completely new experience.
