The mission of the Association for Termination of Female Genital Mutilation (ATFGM) is to promote and protect the quality of life, rights, and dignity of girls and women, and ensure their freedom from all forms of coercion.
They are a non-profit organization registered with the Tanzanian Government and operate in various areas of the country, with their initial focus being on Mara and Arusha.
Although not directly affiliated with HOPE for Girls and Women, the two organizations share a similar mission and work together to achieve their goals.
ATFGM provides a safe haven for girls who are at risk of FGM. The campus includes a primary and vocational school, as well as the safe house. Students who attend high school are enrolled in a government school, which is just a short walk away.
